Supplying fuel to aircraft is an essential function at all airports. Optimising the supply chain in order to achieve a competitive fuel price while maintaining fuel quality and delivery efficiency can benefit both the airport and its airline customers.
An international airport appointed Byrne Ó Cléirigh to carry out a strategic review of its business model for the supply of aviation fuel to its airline customers. Our work entailed:
- Reviewing the existing supply chain structure, including the physical infrastructure, the fuel supply operations, the regulatory environment and the financial position.
- Reviewing of the competitive landscape.
- Undertaking a SWOT analysis.
- Identification of options to enhance revenues and optimise asset utilisation, and both quantitative and qualitative evaluation of these.
